JAMMU, Mar 22: To seek political empowerment and reservation for displaced Kashmiri Pandits, Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) organised a seminar titled “J&K Delimitation and the Role of KPs”. The seminar was presided over by YAIKS president and North India head GKPD. R K Bhat. During the seminar the panelists made an appeal to the Delimitation Commission to reserve two Parliament constituencies and four Assembly constituencies for minority Pandits in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Political reservation for our community is only medium to save future of next generation of Kashmiri Pandits and to reconnect them to their lost roots, who are living in exile for last three decades. The proposal for delimitation of Assembly constituencies by Union Home Minister has created high hopes among the KP community that they will get politically empowered, so that we should have our own representatives in both the houses as we the KPs are the worst suffers from the last 31 years”, they said.
The YAIKS president, R.K Bhat in his speech said that the grave injustice has been done since long by the very well known political figures in J&K. These political leaders had actually destroyed J&K for their personal interests. Now the time has come to balance the Jammu and Kashmir region with the equally distribution of Assembly seats. This is actually a scam and this scam will be eradicated from the roots through the Reorganisation Bill. He also complimented the Modi Government for taking timely cognizance of this matter and started the process of delimitation in J&K. With this act the benefit will directly reach to the people of J&K and they will get the right to live with their self-respect and with dignity, he added.
“We also appeal Election Commission of India (ECI) to ensure that every displaced Kashmiri Pandits be included in the voter list of the Assembly segments to which they belonged to”, he said. During the seminar the “best Volunteer Award” was presented to Rainoo Raina & her family for their great contribution to the community and society as well.
Among others who addressed in seminar includes YAIKS general secretaries BK Bhat & Sanjeev Koul, vice presidents, Sanjay Ganjoo & Manoj Handoo, Neeraj Koul, Archana Sharma, Ajay Pandita, Vimal Raina, Vinod Bhat and Arvind Wali.
