JAMMU, Mar 5: Vice chairman Wool and Wool Export Promotion Council (WWEPC), Ministry of Textiles Government of India, Romehs Khajuria called on Ranjan P Thakur, Principal Secretary to Government of J&K Industry & Commerce and briefed him about the functioning of Wool and Woolens Export Promotion Council.
He informed Ranjan Thakur that Wool and Woolen Export Promotion Council was established in 1964 by Government of India and entrusted with responsibilities of promotion of export of all types of woolen products and is functioning under the administrative control of Ministry of Textiles GoI.
Khajuria informed Principal Secretary that WWEPC is going to organise an exclusive Indian Woolen Expo-2021 in New Delhi from March 25 to 27 this year which is sponsored by Ministry of Commerce and Industries Government of India. He said the Ministry of Industries and Commerce had given directives to him to be in touch with the officers in J&K to facilitate the participation of entrepreneurs and exporters of Jammu and Kashmir in various export promotion activities undertaken under Marketing Access Incentives (MAI) support in India and abroad.
Khajuria also appealed Thakur to sponsor 20 to 25 entrepreneurs and exporters of woolen products like Pashmina shawls, woolen carpets, woolen garments, woolen fashion accessories and other woolen products so that the theme Pavilion focused on J&K products is established in the in the Indian Woolen Expo-2021.
