World Tourism Day: Week-long celebrations at CUJ conclude

JAMMU, Sept 27: In connection with the World Tourism Day, week long celebrations by the Department of Tourism and Travel Management in Central University Jammu concluded today.
The valedictory function was held today wherein the Vice-Chancellor Prof Devanand emphasized that such academic initiatives would develop the overall personality of students both professionally and academically.
Prof I C Gupta gave a presentation on Tourism and Community Development and highlighted the importance of community in tourism. He also stressed that community tourism is more of a volunteerism where the tourists and the local community need to participate mutually and both are benefitted.
Dr C M Seth, Chairman, WWF, Jammu Chapter, talked on the importance of sustainability of the local community being a lover of ecotourism.
Prof Deepak Raj Gupta, Dean School of Business Studies and head Department of Tourism and Travel Management presented vote of thanks.
Prof N R Sharma, Dean Student Welfare, encouraged the Department of Travel and Tourism and other departments in the university to organize more such events.
The whole function of valedictory was hosted by Dr Amit Gangotia, Assistant Professor, Department of Tourism and Travel Management.
During the week long celebrations, various programmes were held. Besides the inaugural function, these included heritage walk, visit to Amar Mahal Palace, quiz competitions, guest lectures, a seminar and interactive sessions.
