World Population Day celebrated with vigour

JAMMU, July 11: World Population Day was celebrated at various places across the State with enthusiasm and vigour today.
The Day was celebrated with the theme ‘Chota Kumba Khushal Kunba’ in Kargil. Executive Councilor of LAHDC, Haji Mohmad Shafi Mir was chief guest and Chief Medical Officer Dr Shabir Hussain was guest of honour on the occasion.
A seminar was organized in Syeed Mehdi Memorial Hall by the Health Department, wherein doctors and volunteers delivered lectures on population and its increase.
Various stalls were installed by the different agencies to aware the programme.
World Population Day 2014 was celebrated today in District Hospital Udhampur in a simple but impressive function. The day was celebrated in ANMT School District Hospital Udhampur today. The function among others was attended by Dr Chander Parkash, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Udhmapur, Dr Deepak Kumar, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Consultant Doctors of District Hospital Udhampur and senior and junior staff nurses.
The students of ANMT School Udhampur, Florence Nightingale Paramedical Institute Udhampur and Narsingh Dev Institute participated in the function and spoke on the importance of this day. Dr Chander Parkash Medical Superintendent spoke on the occasion.
On the eve of World Population Day, a function was organized by Block Medical Officer Purmandal at Village Jakh.
Dr D K Manyal, Block Medical Officer Purmandal spoke on the occasion and gave historic background of the day.
The function among others was attended by Dr Sanjay Puri, Vijay Kumar, Sagar Singh and Romil Dubey.
Meanwhile, World Population Day was celebrated at Government Sub District Hospital Mendhar with enthusiasm and fervour today.
SDM Mendhar Romesh Kumar was the chief guest on the occasion, while Parvaiz Ahmed Khan, Block Medical Officer Mendhar spoke at length on the occasion.
