JAMMU, Aug 1: Department of Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu today initiated World Breast Feeding Week (1st to 7th August 2022) at Maternity Hospital (MH) Gandhi Nagar (Jammu).
The week long-celebrations commenced with an awareness programme which was organized by Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology under HoD Dr Amita Gupta in presence of Dr Swarn Gupta (Head of Unit, SMGS Hospital), Dr Arun Sharma (Medical Superintendent, MH Gandhi Nagar), PGs, Registrars, doctors, staff of MCH Gandhi Nagar, attendants of patients and mothers admitted in the Hospital.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Arun Sharma informed that during week-long celebrations, PG and nursing students will daily educate the mothers coming to OPD, admitted in ward and public at large regarding benefits of breast feeding. Further, a number of activities like street plays, poster competition, rangoli competition and seminars will be organized to aware the public on breast feeding.
Dr Arpita from Department of Gynaecology & Obstetrics (GMC, Jammu) gave detailed information on Breast Feeding while Dr Swarn Gupta talked about benefits of breast feeding to the child as well as mother.
