Srinagar, Aug 1: For the 19th day in a row, scores of Finance Accounts Assistant (FAA) aspirants today held a protest against the proposed move by authorities to scrap the merit list.
The protestors gathered at Partap Park, Press Enclave and held a sit-in while holding posters reading “Release our Selection List,” “Stop Playing with Youth,” “Don’t Snatch Our Livelihood,” and other messages.

They feel that the FAA selection list may be scrapped since it was suggested that some applicants may have cheated during the exam. “We had hoped that after passing the exam, our problems with unemployment would be over, but the rumours that the entire shortlist may be discarded are keeping us up at night,” a protesting candidate said, adding that if some applicants cheated on the exam, why should all of the chosen applicants bear the cost of their mistake?
The protestors said that unfair procedures were damaging the careers of deserving applicants because they were being made to pay for those who had cheated. “The hiring process at the FAA is nearly complete, so they are now thinking about ending it. Why does the Government take so long to express its concerns about the recruiting process?” the protestors said.
The protestors said they have qualified for the examination after preparing for it for many years. “The final selection list is purportedly being discarded just as it is about to arrive because of some candidates. A thousand young people will be left jobless, discouraged, and dissatisfied if the entire list is discarded,” another protestor said.
The candidates requested the LG Administration to take notice of what they claimed to be JKSSB’s mismanagement, which had jeopardized the future of eligible candidates.
