JAMMU, June 30: Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in collaboration with National Governing Body of Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohaematology (ISBTI) celebrated World Blood Donor Day at Red Cross Bhawan, here on the theme “Be There For Someone Else-Donate Blood Share Life’.
Sanjeev Verma, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion and awarded the NGOs and voluntary blood donors who have organized blood donation camps and donated blood more than 25 times in their lives.
While speaking on the occasion, Sanjeev Verma, Divisional Commissioner hope that Red Cross Jammu in future also organize more and more such camps for the welfare of the poor and needy patients.
Among others present were Dr SD Singh Jamwal, IGP Jammu Zone, Ramesh Kumar, Commissioner, Jammu, Municipal Corporation, Dr Sunanda Raina, Principal, Government Medical College, Jammu, Dr Meena Sidhu, Acting Head Blood Transfusion Department, Government Medical College, Jammu and Executive Committee Member of IRCS, Jammu Region.
Dr TR Raina, Vice President, ISBTI National Body spoke about the importance of voluntary blood donation.
Dinesh Gupta, Secretary, IRCS, Jammu Region briefed that Red Cross in collaboration with ISBTI, National Body is planning to arrange more and more blood donation camps in the rural areas especially border districts of Jammu so that in the coming days there should be no deficiency of blood in the blood banks of hospitals during any exigencies.
