World AIDS Day observed

JAMMU, Nov 30: World AIDS Day was observed today.
NSS unit of Dogra College of Education organized poster making competition on the occasion of World AIDS Day. The programme was held under supervision of Amarjeet Kour, Officiating Programme Officer, NSS. Dr Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Principal Dogra College of Education was also present on the occasion. 22 Teacher Trainees of BEd Semester I and III took part in competition. Priya Khullar, Devyani Gupta and Simran Devi of BEd Course, Session 2018-20 (Semester III) were adjudged first, second and third respectively while Payal Sambyal of BEd Course, Session 2019-21 (Semester I) was given the consolation prize. The judges of the event were Indu Puri, Senior Lecturer, Vintee Kumari and Amarjeet Kour, Lecturers, Dogra College of Education. Dr Shefali Sharma, Academic Coordinator, Dogra College of Education, faculty members and students were also present on the occasion.
Trikuta Degree College, Nardni-Raipur, Jammu organized an awareness campaign in collaboration with NSS Unit of the college on World AIDS Day. Pooja Digra Assistant Professor Jammu College of Physiotherapy was the Resource Person on the occasion. Suman Sharma Sharma, Chairperson of the college, Sunita Sharma Principal of the college and Reetika Sharma NSS Programme Officer were also present on the occasion.
Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College, RS Pura in collaboration with J&K State AIDS Control Society organized a Painting-cum-Poster Competition on the theme ‘Communities Make The Difference’ to observe the day under the guidance of Dr Sunita Sudan, Principal of the college and supervision of Prof Swati, Convener Red Ribbon Club. 20 students of the college participated in which they made informative posters depicting the theme of the competition. Dr. Anuradha and Prof. Esha Abrol, members of the Red Ribbon Club coordinated the event. Vivek Dabbay, Shivani Devi and Rohit Kumar of Semester-I were judged first, second and third in the competition respectively.
On the eve of World AIDS Day, JKSPYM organized a poster making competition in which students of Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School. About 70 to 80 students of class 9th and 10th participated in the competition. JKSPYM distributes T-Shirts to all the participant students. Principal of Shiksha Niketan School Rameshwar Mengi was also present. Pooja Kumari Project Manager and High Wing Incharge of School Harish Sharma awarded the winners. Sambhav Jain of class 9th won the first prize, Gaganpreet Kour of class 9th won the second prize and Palak Menia of class 9th won the third prize.
To observe the World AIDS Day, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) presented Dogri Musical Play “AIDS Kola Bacho” in coordination with Sangam Tru Art Production and National College of Computer Education Janipur. The play was written, produced and directed by ML Dogra, Former Assistant Director of Song and Drama Division, Ministry of Information Broadcasting, Government of India. The programme was inaugurated by Zulekha Farid, Renowned Awardee Singer of J&K along with VK Magotra, Former Regional Director of Directorate of Field Publicity, Government of India, Dr Tara Singh Charak, JK Raina, Freelancer Producer and Director Films. The music of the play was assisted by Raju Bajgal, Music Instructor BLSKS. The artists, who performed in the play were Usha Handoo, MC Kotwal, Raju Bajgal, Rajni Gupta, Kuldeep Raj, Bindia Arora, Azeen Ali, Ujwal Sharma, Sooraj Parkash, Bodh Raj, Sakshi Kumari, Sanjeev Sodhi, Kanchan, Bablu Kumar, Zafar, Dhruv Pandit, Rakshit Sharma and students. KK Joshi, Vice Chairman, BLSKS presented vote of thanks.
