JAMMU, Aug 17: A 21-day workshop on Study Material writing for Jyotish, organised by Muktaswadhyayapeetham (Directorate of Distance Learning), Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi, concluded at Sansthan’s Shri Ranbir Campus, Jammu, today.
Former Principal of the Campus, Prof. Priyatm Chander Shastri was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Prof. Ramakant Pandey, Director, Muktaswadhyayapeetham (Directorate of Distance Education) was the special guest on the occasion. The function was presided over by Prof. Ramanuja Devanathan, Principal. About 20 scholars participated in the workshop.
In his address, Prof. Priyatm Chandra Shastri said that such workshops are very important for all the stakeholders – students, teachers, the institution concerned and the developers of the study material. He expressed the hope that the material prepared during the workshop would meet the aspirations of the students as well the teachers.
Prof. Ramakant Pandey, appreciated the efforts put in by the participating scholars and said that writing study material for Distance Education mode requires altogether different types skills and aptitude on the part of the writers and scholars.
In his presidential address, Prof. Ramanuja Devanathan said that creating study material for education through distance mode is quite different from textbook writing etc., because in the distance mode, the study material has to perform the role of the teacher also. The study material should talk like a teacher and hence, use of second person pronoun is advised, he added.
Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Head of the Department of Modern Subjects, Sharat Chander Sharma.
Dr. Shyam Dev Mishra, Convener, Jyotisha Study Material Development Workshops, (HQ) presented a report of the Workshop. Prof. Hans Dhar Jha, HOD JYotisha, Bhopal Campus said word of blessings to the participants. Head of the Department of Jyotish, Dr. Prabhat Kumar Mahapatra, presented the vote of thanks. Dr. Deepak Kumar Sharma recited the Manglacharanam. The class-four employees of the campus were presented cash gifts as tokens of appreciation for the meticulous services provided by them to the participants during their stay at the Campus.
