Workshop on ‘IoT & its Industrial Applications’ begins at JU

JAMMU, Feb 8: A two- day workshop on `Internet of Things (IoT) and its Industrial Applications’, began today in the Department of Computer Science & IT, University of Jammu (JU), in collaboration with M/s AdvanceTech India Pvt Ltd.
The objective of the workshop is to provide hands on practical training to the students, scholars and faculty members in the domain of Internet of Things (IoT).
Prof Pankaj Srivastava, Director, Distance and Online Education and former Dean Students Welfare, JU, was the chief guest at the inaugural function. He emphasized that IoT is the technology of future and hoped that the interested students shall be provided opportunity by the industry for projects and placements.
Prof Pawanesh Abrol, Head, Department of Computer Science & IT, informed that an MoU has been signed between the University of Jammu and M/s AdvanceTech India Pvt Ltd, recently. He further apprised the participants about the availability of the latest infrastructure, hardwares, softwares, networking and other digital resources available in the department for the benefit of the students.
Ashish Verma, Head, Operation Manager and Execution, M/s AdvanceTech India Pvt Ltd, said that the participants shall be working on the latest IoT kits which have been specifically arranged in sizeable number by the industry and installed in the labs of the department for the workshop purpose. He added that Ankur Rawat and Gopal will conduct the technical sessions of two day workshop.
Prof Lalit Sen Sharma, Co-Convener of the workshop, discussed the significance of design and development of sensor based systems and application of IoT in different fields. He hoped that the students would take lead from the interaction with the industry resource persons that will help them in their projects, dissertations and placement efforts.
Dr Shubhnandan Singh Jamwal, Organizing Secretary, presented the formal vote of thanks.
The participants of the workshop included the students, scholars, faculty members from the Department of Computer Science & IT, Department of Electronics, and Kathua Campus of the University.
Prof Vinod Sharma, Jasbir Singh, Dr Suresh Rao, Namrata Karlupia, Dr Rajneet Kaur, Dr Haneet Kour, Ayushi Gupta, Anil Tikoo, Sanjay Manhas, Er Gurpal, besides the faculty members, scholars, and the staff were present on the occasion.
