SRINAGAR, July 17: A workshop on ‘Investigation of Disproportionate Asset Cases’ was conducted by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) here today.
All branch SSPs, prosecutors and investigating officers of ACB police stations of Srinagar, Anantnag and Baramulla participated in the workshop.
Aim of the workshop was to acquaint ACB officers with procedure and guidelines for investigation into disproportionate asset cases.
The workshop was chaired by Anand Jain, Director ACB who deliberated upon various aspects of investigation of disproportionate cases against public servants through power point presentation.
ACB officers were educated with latest procedure required under law for investigation of such cases and stress was laid upon to adopt professionalism and set legal procedure in the investigation of such case.
The officers were informed about the latest law and judgements of the apex court and those of the J&K High Court in this regard.
Special reference was made to the invoking of Section 8-B of J&K PC Act-2006 which gives powers to the Superintendent of Police of ACB regarding attachment and seizure of properties of accused raised by indulging in illegal and corrupt practices.
The officers were also made familiar with the provisions and procedure laid down in J&K PC Act 2006 as per latest amendments.
Guidelines laid down in J&K Vigilance Manual-2008 regarding investigation and prosecution of disproportionate asset cases registered against accused public servants were also part of the workshop.
