Workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Rights’ held at SKPA

skpaUDHAMPUR, Nov 4: One day workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights with Special Focus on Counterfeiting and Piracy” was organised at SKPA here in collaboration with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) New Delhi for the officers of J&K Police.
The workshop started with opening remarks of Chander Parkash Gupta, Chairman, CII J&K State Council and Managing Director.
The occasion was graced by the Director SKPA Rajesh Kumar, IGP with his inaugural address. Shiv Kumar Sharma, AD (Admn), Ravinder Kumar Rao, AD (Indoor), RC Kotwal AD (Outdoor) and members of CII from Udhampur and Jammu were also present.
Director SKPAU focused on the damage caused to the economy due to counterfeiting and piracy not at national but on Global level.
He emphasized CII to organise such awareness drives for common masses to check this menace, and in view of changing public perceptions, need of focusing and identifying practical strategies/ concerted efforts that will have a real and lasting impact.
He also emphasized that counterfeiting and piracy being a serious crime needs to be vigorously investigated, prevented and prosecuted.
The eminent speakers on the occasion shared their valuable knowledge and awared the participants about the patents, copy rights, trade secrets counterfeiting, piracy, gray products parallel imports, Trade Mark Act 1999 Design Act 2000, Patent Act 1970, Copy Right Act 1957 etc and  tools necessary to detect the counterfeit and pirated goods.
The workshop concluded with the feedback of the participants.
