Workshop on ‘Forensic Science & Judicial Process’ organised

SRINAGAR, Mar 21: Two day workshop of Public Prosecutors, newly appointed District & Sessions Judges, newly appointed Judicial Magistrates, Police Prosecutors, members of FSL Srinagar was organised by State Judicial Academy at Mominabad Complex on the Theme, “Forensic Science & Judicial Process”.
While introducing the theme, Director Incharge State Judicial Academy Suresh Sharma,who is also Registrar General of J&K High Court, emphasized upon the participants about the need for the training and knowledge of Forensics for all the stake holders in the Judicial process, the basic know how about the forensic evidence and its technical knowhow and how it is collected, processed and later applied in the Courts during Criminal trials.
Many a times a criminal leaves his signatures and trails after committing crime and now when the direct evidence is hard to come especially as the advances in technology a new dimension to the Crimes known as ‘Cyber Crimes’ is on the prowl and the challenge is enormous therefore need for forensics and the process behind the same is the need of the hour. Even in conventional crimes like homicide and rape or narcotics forensic evidence is the clinching evidence, which is scientific and admissible and can nail the crime, he said.
During the two day workshop various themes like; Introduction to Forensics, Questioned Documents, fingerprints, footprints and examination of Crime Scene, Collection of Physical Evidence, Analysing the available Evidence, Cyber Crimes and their tracking, Audio Matching, Video Matching, Ballistics, Arson & Fire, Chemical Analytics, and Explosives with its types and their detection and Drugs & Narcotics, also Polygraph & Lie-Detector were covered.
Forensic Experts of National and international repute, Dr.T.S.N. Murthy, Director (Technical) Truth Labs, Hyderabad and Former Director FSL and GVHV Prasad, Director Truth Labs. Hyderabad attended the workshop.
