Workshop on Engineering Mechanics concludes at SMVDU

REASI, Dec 6: The 2-week long workshop on Engineering Mechanics under the aegis of National Mission on Education through ICT (MHRD, Government of India) today concluded in the valedictory function held here at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU).
The workshop was organized by SMVDU in collaboration with IIT Bombay.
This 10-day workshop emerged as a new learning avenue for the participating members in which faculty members from various engineering disciplines from the State, participated.
Prof SK Jain, Vice Chancellor, SMVD University, who was the chief guest in the valedictory function, in his address highlighted the importance of the National Mission on Education at institutes of higher learning.
He emphasized the need for organizing such workshops, where the faculty from various Engineering disciplines get trained by continuous interaction with experts in the relevant areas of Engineering and Technology.
The vice chancellor also lauded the efforts taken by the School of Mechanical Engineering, SMVDU, in organising such type of workshops and said that such type of programmes in Universities will help address the faculty development to a greater extent.
Earlier, Balbir Singh, Director, School of Mechanical Engineering, SMVDU, briefed about the forthcoming programmes in the School of Mechanical Engineering.
The Coordinator of the workshop, Sanjay Mohan Sharma, Assistant Professor, School of Mechanical Engineering, gave a detailed overview of the topics in Engineering Mechanics that were covered during the 2-week long workshop.
