Leh, Jan 10: The Culture Academy Leh with an aim to infuse importance of rich Ladakhi culture and language among the teachers and to apply the concept of theatre in education in schools organized a day-long workshop on Ladakhi culture and theatre at DIET, here today. The workshop was attended by large number of teachers.
Speaking about the cultural heritage, Tsewang Paljor, Special Culture Officer, Leh said that the foundation of Ladakhi culture is our pure heart and the traditional dresses are our ornaments. He said that the objective of conducting such workshop is to aware and educate teachers about the tangible and intangible values of rich Ladakhi culture so that they can inculcate these values in students and the other objective of the workshop is to apply the concept of theatre in education in schools.
Principal DIET, Leh Konchok Angmo hoped that this kind of initiative will go a long way in infusing moral and cultural values in teachers and students.
Giving his expert remarks on Ladakhi culture, Tsewan Dorje Dongbos said it is very important to preserve rich Ladakhi culture for which we must learn Bhoti language which has all ingredients to lead our society in every field. He said that teachers have to play a very crucial role in preserving and nourishing rich cultural heritage.
Prof. Jamyang Gyaltson said that Bhoti language is an extraordinary language covering wide range of knowledge in its ambit and has qualities to control mind and make people disciplined and cultured.
An open house panel discussion and questioner session on Ladakhi language and culture was also held during the workshop. In the second session a demo on importance of theatre in education was presented by theatre artists headed by Tseatan Angchuk.
