JAMMU, May 31: A four-day training-cum-workshop on Information Communication Technology (ICT) concluded today at SKUAST Jammu.
This workshop was organized by Division of Agricultural Extension Education (DOAEE) in collaboration with National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad. It focused on imparting training on use of ICTs in modified extension reforms in J&K.
Dr V P Sharma , Director, National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad , was master trainer for imparting skills of ICTs in agriculture. The trainees were trained for use of mobile short massage service, farmer call centers, kissan portal and other available ICT options for farmers.
The faculty of Division of Agriculture Extension Education also provided hands on knowledge to the trainees on different ICT applications, participatory rural appraisals (PRAs)for developing strategic research and extension plan for ATMA.
The chief guest at valedictory function was Dr K S Risam, Director Extension Education, SKUAST of Jammu. Dr Rakesh Nanda, Head, Division of Agricultural Extension Education and Course Director of the programme highlighted the need of use of ICT in transfer of technology from research to field for reducing time lag between technology developed and its dissemination.
