RAJOURI, Sept 01: The workers/ labourers of M/s Dharam Raj Construction Company today held strong protest against the non-payment of their four months wages by the company on Rajouri-Thannamandi-Bufliaz road today.
Official sources said that the protest by the workers was held at Saj village in Tehsil Thannamandi against the DR Construction Pvt Ltd, which is executing the up-gradation of road work from Rajouri to Bufliaz. They were raising slogans demanding their wages and also against the Company management.
The protesting workers claimed that they were employed in the company and for the initial some time salary was given to them and for the last four months no salary was given to them and they have nothing to feed their families. They told whenever they demand salary from company officers they ask them to leave the job and threaten for termination.
Dharam Raj Company not only violating Labour Laws but also threatening those who are already working in the company and also not providing salary to its local employees. They are violating the guidelines and exploiting the workers.
Locals appealed to the District Magistrate Rajouri and the Lt Governor besides Labour Commissioner J&K to take action under laws against the Company and provide them their hard earned wages as their families were facing starvation.
As the road remained blocked for long then SHO Thannamandi, Mohammad Shoket Chowdhary reached the spot and pacified the protestors with the assurance that their demand will be taken up with concerned authorities.
