Work Supervisors allege stagnation, seek 4% quota

JAMMU, Dec 29: Alleging stagnation  Work Supervisors Association  has urged upon the higher authorities to conduct DPC at the earliest and provide 4 % quota in promotions.
Talking to media-persons   today, president of the Association from Udhampur unit , Tariq Shah said that supervisor cadre in the engineering wing  (R&B/ PHE) has been facing  stagnation since long. He said that despite several   representations to the higher authorities, they are not being promoted. He claimed that Government  was forcing them to launch agitation.
Shah further said that there is provision of  4%  quota amongst the work supervisors for the next  promotion to the post of Junior Engineer. But this order is not being implemented for the reason best known to the people at the helm of affairs. There is strong resentment  among the  cadre.
Shah pointed out  that there  is scope of  promotion for the Gram Sevaks  to the higher post of BDO, Patwaris can be promoted as Naib Tehsildars and even the Tehsildars  and Firemen as Superintendents but in case of work supervisors, they are being ignored.  He appealed the cadre to get united and be prepared for the long struggle.
The Association  urged upon the Chief Minister to intervene into the matter and provide justice to the work supervisors. Asif Ali and Ashok Sharma senior members also spoke on the occasion.
