JAMMU, Dec 29: Commandant of Military Hospital, Jammu and a reputed Hemato-Oncopathologist Brigadier Tathagat Chatterjee visited Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital (SMVDNSH) in Kakryal today.
Brigadier Chatterjee inspected the various departments of the Superspeciality Hospital along with Dr (Brig) Man Mohan Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer of SMVDNSH. He took keen interest in the state-of-the-art, hi-end diagnostic and treatment equipments and other facilities at the 230-bed Superspeciality Hospital established by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board in association with Narayana Health to provide tertiary level medical care services.
Brigadier Chatterjee evinced keen interest in the functioning of the Hospital’s Institute of Oncology, which comprises of the Department of Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology, Haemato Oncology and Radiation Oncology. He also visited the Department of Pathology, Histopathology, Bacteriology and the upcoming Department of Hemato-Oncology, which is his area of interest. The Haemato-Oncology Department is expected to start functioning by the end of February 2017 and will cater to all haematological cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma apart from other blood related disorders such as iron deficiency, anemia, hemophilia, sickle cell disease, Thalassemia and so on.
Interacting with senior doctors and other functionaries at SMVDNSH, Brigadier Chatterjee discussed the treatment protocols being practiced in various departments and was pleased to note that the Hospital had established a Tumour Board to provide comprehensive cancer care with multidisciplinary approach under a single roof.
On behalf of the Shrine Board and Narayana Health, Brigadier Harjai expressed gratitude to Brig Chatterjee for sparing time to visit the super Speciality Hospital and support its growth with his expert advice.
