MENDHAR, Mar 1: The construction work of the building of Govt Middle School, Behara Dhari village in Mendhar block remains incomplete even though the work was started almost 13 years ago.
Sources said that in 2010, the State Government had sanctioned ` funds for the construction of the school building under Sarv Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) for the said school building. Though the work was started with the available fund, it could not be completed as the rest of the amount is yet to be released. The old building has only two classroom which is being used as store room and office while students use the half-constructed building for classroom teaching.
They have no option but to share the classrooms with students of other classes. At present, the school has 1st to 8th standard including 100 students and teachers.
The school authorities said since they do not have adequate space, they have turned the Verandah into office room.
Locals of area said that Dehri Behra is one of the far-flung belts of Mendhar Sub Division and has been left on the mercy of God by successive Governments. They alleged that Education Department is putting the future of students at stake.
Majeed Choudhary a local villager, said due to delay in release of funds for construction of the building, the remaining work could not be completed. He demanded immediate completion of the school building.
SDM Mendhar Janghir Khan said that he has already taken up the matter with the higher authorities and assured that the construction of the building will be completed soon.
