The decision of the Indian Cricket legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni to take retirement from Test cricket has taken the Cricket community by surprise. No one had expected that Mr Dhoni may retire so early from the game, and at a time when India-Australia Cricket series was on, and one match was yet to be played.
Though of late, Mr Dhoni’s captaincy had come under criticism, and pressure had been building on him to quit captaincy, no one expected that his retirement would come so soon.
There is no doubt that Dhoni’s contribution to Indian Cricket is quite immense and it will be recorded in golden letters in Indian Cricket history. He changed the complexion of Indian Cricket and took it to great heights. Known as Mr Cool, Dhoni was always appreciated for his out-of-the-box thinking, and keeping the spirit of Indian players quite high in difficult situation. He was known as a leader who led from the front, and made others follow him. During his captaincy, he has never courted any big controversy. Wish him all the success in other formats of the game.
