Addressing media persons in front of Press Club, here today, Neelam Billawria and Kiran Billawria, both daughters of late Thakur Harnam Singh, said that in the morning of June 3 vide MRD/OPD No 892993 they admitted their father in unit IV of casualty ward of GMC Jammu after he complained of seizure.
They said that their father was showing fast recovery but on June 4 at 8 PM, the nurse on duty, after seeing the prescription written by doctors on the admission file of the patient, gave us a slip bearing name of two different injections, one Acivir (two injections) and other Hepamerz (four injections).
Neelam Billawria said that she went to Sanyog chemist shop within the premises of GMC and showed slip to the salesman present in the shop who gave me two injections of Acivir and four injections of Aldopam instead of four injections of Hepamerz.
She said we gave all medicines to the nurse on duty, who without verifying or checking the prescriptions written by the doctor, administered two Aldopam injections mixed with NS to the patient at 10 PM and it continued for at least 20 minutes and was stopped by the nurse after their brother and sister in law (who are medical practitioners) reached there and raised an alarm.
The women said that thereafter the condition of their father started deteriorating and then on next day (June 5) after taking proper permission, they decided to shift the patient to home but while shifting he breathed his last at around 2.10 PM.
“We will approach the court to get the direction for Principal and Superintendent of GMC for constitution of a board of doctors to investigate the matter, fix responsibility of negligence and punish the guilty”, they added.
