Woman’s murder worked out, husband arrested

JAMMU, May 8: Trikuta Nagar police has worked out the murder of young woman Sheetal, whose body was recovered from Bahu Plaza area last night with arrest of her husband, who had killed her as he used to doubt her activities.

Police parties headed by SHO Trikuta Nagar Inspector Pervez Sajjad under the supervision of SP City (South) Vinay Kumar Sharma conducted raids at different places and arrested the accused from Preet Nagar, Digiana.
He has been identified as Vijay Gill son of Jaswant Gill, a resident of Preet Nagar, Digiana, a safai karamchari by profession.
The woman Sheetal, who originally belonged to Valmiki Colony, was married to Vijay about four years back.
However, according to police sources, Vijay used to doubt the activities of his wife.
Yesterday, he purchased sharp-edged knife from a utensils shop at Nanak Nagar and followed his wife, who was riding on Scooty. He trapped her between Gold Gym and Chamber of Commerce and Industry office near Bahu Plaza area and stabbed her to death with the knife.
Vijay fled from the spot, changed his clothes and had a bath at his Preet Nagar residence. However, police parties arrested him before he could flee.
The weapon of offence and blood stained clothes have been recovered from the possession of accused.
Police have registered a murder case against the accused for further investigations.
