Woman’s blind murder solved, husband arrested

RAJOURI, Apr 26: With the arrest of five persons, the District Police Rajouri  claimed to have solved blind murder cases of a young woman at Kheora in Rajouri town and another in  Darhal  area today.
Talking to media-persons here today, SP Rajouri Mubassar Latiffi disclosed that around 8 pm on April 14, 2014, a telephonic message was received that a dead body of a female in the age group of  27-28 years, is lying in the rented house of one Shabir Mirza at Kheora in Rajouri town. The police party led by SHO immediately rushed there and after examining spot,  shifted the body to mortuary of the hospital.
The deceased was identified as Tahira Kouser, wife of Mohd Zulfikar  alias Kala. The police registered   a case FIR No. 180/ 2014 and started investigation.  A Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Addl SP Rajouri Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan was constituted. During probe it was found that husband of the deceased  was missing after the incident and his vehicle could be traced from SMGS Hospital Jammu.
The girl originally hailed from village Kot Dhara area of Rajouri and she had been married to one Tariq, from Alwar in Rajasthan. This girl stayed with Tariq for about two years and then came into the contact of  one Zulfikar from Saj village in Rajouri. Zulfikar   married to Tahira in Jammu court and told her that he was unmarried. But Zulfikar  was already married and father of four children. Without informing his first wife,  Zulfikar started living with Tahira in a rented house at Kheora in Rajouri.
This Zulfikar  again came into the contact of another local woman, which became the bone of contention between the two (husband and wife). Upon this both Tahira and Zulfikar  used to quarrel every day.  In order to get rid of  Tahira, he gagged her on the night of April 13 and tied body with ceiling fan, projecting it as suicide case. Later, he went underground. Zulfikar was arrested by police party led by SHO Rajouri, Yashpal Singh from a train at Samba, when he was coming to Jammu. He admitted his guilt.
Another blind murder of one Javed Iqbal alias Babu (30), son of Kalu, hailing from Parori  (Darhal)  was  also solved with the arrest four persons including wife. The body was recovered in the cattle shed of the deceased on April 9, 2014.  The investigation into the case was started.  During probe a number of suspects were placed under interrogation and it was established that youth was murdered. The postmortem report also suggested the same. On the basis of clue his wife was interrogated and she revealed that truth.  On her disclosure, all the four accused persons were arrested under Section 302 RPC.
They were identified as  Abdul Qayoom, son of Mohd Iqbal, Zahida Parveen, wife of deceased Javed Iqbal, Shehnaz Akhtar, wife of Abdul Qayoom and Mohd Iqbal, son of Lala residents of Panihad. Family dispute was said to be the reason behind the murder.
