UDHAMPUR, Oct 14: A middle aged woman was allegedly murdered by her husband over some petty issue, here this evening.
The deceased was identified as Koushalya Devi (51), wife of Sardar Singh of Balli Nallah, Udhampur. Husband fled the scene after assaulting his wife, who succumbed to her injuries at District Hospital Udhampur. Even as Police has registered a murder case in this connection, the accused husband was evading arrest.
According to the Police, the accused husband was in the bad habits like gambling and drinking and he used to harass his wife and children over petty issues. This evening, Sardar Singh again had some heated argument with his wife following which he hit her with some rod. The victim sustained a serious head injury and was rushed to District Hospital Udhampur where she succumbed to her injuries.
On getting the information, SHO Police Station Udhampur, Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary rushed to the spot but the accused husband had managed to flee by that time. A case under Section 302 has been registered in this connection and the hunt was on to nab the accused husband.
