JAMMU, Sept 7: A middle aged woman was today murdered, after she had a scuffle with the accused, who was arrested later in the city outskirts here.
According to SDPO Jammu East, Deputy SP Chandan Kohli, the deceased identified as Moni (45), wife of late Mohan, resident of Lucknow, at present Rajiv Nagar (Narwal), this morning exchanged heated words with the accused identified as Raju, resident of Dansal in district Udhampur, which later led into a scuffle between the duo.
“The victim was hit with an iron rod following which she fell unconscious and succumbed due to fatal head injury,” the officer said, adding the body of the deceased lady was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites after completing all medico-legal formalities.
He said the accused was apprehended within no time by a team of Narwal police headed by SI Wasim Mehraj, Incharge, police post, Narwal under the supervision of SHO Trikuta Nagar Inspector Bharat Sharma and the matter is being investigated to ascertain the cause of scuffle after registering a case in this connection.
