JAMMU, Jan 24: A 60-year-old woman lost her life while her husband sustained injuries after a scooty was hit by a tipper near Panjthirthi Chowk, close to a Masjid, on Tuesday evening.
According to official sources, the accident occurred when a tipper collided with a scooty, resulting in serious injuries to the two occupants. The injured were identified as Usha Sher (60), wife of Satish Sher, and Satish Sher (65), son of Bansi Lal Sher, both residents of Barnai.
The injured husband immediately took himself and her wife to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu. However, Usha Sher succumbed to her injuries during treatment at GMC Jammu at around 5.45 pm.
Following her death, the body was shifted to the mortuary at GMC Jammu for postmortem examination and completion of legal formalities.
Police have registered a case in this connection and seized both the vehicles involved in the accident. However, the driver of the tipper managed to escape.
