Woman killed, BSF jawan among 6 injured in cross border firing in Jammu

JAMMU:A woman was killed while six people, including the jawan of Border Security Force, were wounded in cross border firing when Pakistan Rangers fired unprovoked at forward Border Outposts in Kanhachak Sector of this winter capital.
“Pakistani Rangers this morning at around 0910 hrs fired unprovoked and opened a sniper shot at forward BoPs in Kanhachak Sector,” official spokesperson here said. They said that one BSF constable Anjali Kumar of 89 battalion got injured in the firing.
“Pakistani Rangers fired small and heavy arms including mortars in the bordering hamlets due to which a woman died and five other civilians of a family died,” he added. The deceased was identified as Poli Devi (42), resident of Bhalwal Bharth.
The injured were idenitifies as Ramesh Lal (24) and Usha Devi (38). They have been rushed to the Primary Health Centre Pargwal in Akhnoor. The mortars also targeted the house of one Parveen Singh, son of Amar Singh. BSF effectively retaliated to the firing with similar calibre weapons while intermittent firing was still in progress. Locals however have rushed to the safer places. (AGENCIES)
