Woman, her son arrested for duping dry fruit businessman in Jammu of Rs 6.5 crore: Police

Crime Branch Jammu conducted series of raids and finally arrested duo Mother-Son
in a fraud case involving 6 Crore & 50 Lacs. Shakeela & her son namely Tousef Bhatt R/O
Mughal Masjid Hawal Srinagar are arrested after tracking & chasing their locations which
they were frequently changing to evade their arrest.
A written complaint lodged by complainant namely Raees Ahmad Prop. Wals
Walnuts Industries Barmani Road Sunjwan Jammu was received in Crime Branch Jammu
wherein the complainant alleged that he started Fruit Business at Fruit Mandi Narwal and
Factory at Bathindi Jammu in the name ‘Wals Walnuts Industries’. One Reyaz Ahmed Matoo
along-with his wife approached him and narrated that he is also a Dry Fruit Business Man
having business in the name ‘Sadaf Dry Fruit’ Vidhata Nagar Bathindi Jammu who started
taking consignments from the complainant and initially continued making payments to build
trust. One day he told the complainant that he had received a huge Army contract and a lot
of Dry Fruit are required to be supplied to the Army, taking up his sweet words and trusting
him as a good gentleman, the complainant supplied huge quantity of Dry Fruits worth
Crores rupees, and these accused persons shifted to Srinagar and went underground. The
complainant further alleged that accused on finding him issued cheques worth Rs.
1,45,50,000/= to the complainant, but all the cheques were dishonored and bounced by the
concerned bank for insufficient balance & the accused persons again went underground.
Taking cognizance of the matter, Crime Branch Jammu registered a Criminal case
U/S 420,120-B RPC P/S Crime Branch Jammu. During Course of investigation it was
established that, said Tousef Ahmed Bhat S/o Bashir Ahmed Bhatt R/o Mugal Musjid Hawal
Srinagar is main conspirator who hatched the conspiracy with accused Reyaz Ahmed Matto
and Ruqaya to dupe hard earned money of complainant. Reyaz Ahmed Matto has purchased
land in the name of his wife and constructed building on it worth Crores of rupees out of the
money looted from the complainant and then transferred it to the name of Shakeela Begum
who is the mother of Tousef Bhatt. Both the accused are on Police remand for seven days.
Meanwhile their bail application has been rejected by the Hon’ble Court. of IInd Munsiff,
Jammu. APP Mst. Naveed Anjum assisted by the I.O. presented the facts of the case in a
meticulous way.
Searches were made at their places of hiding and mobile phones, debit cards & other
documents have been seized on the spot.
The accused are being put to questioning to ascertain the modus operandi of crime
and other aspects related to the case. Efforts are being put to arrest other accused namely
Riyaz Ahmed Matoo S/O Gh.Mattoo R/O Kawaja Yarbal Nizam Colony near girls Hr. Sec.
School Saida Kadal Rainawari Srinagar and his wife Ruqaya who are still at large. Further
investigation of the case is in progress.
