JAMMU, Oct 13: A woman today committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at her residence in Galwade Chak area of city outskirts.
According to police sources, the woman identified as Pooja Sharma (28) wife of Santosh Kumar, resident of Galwade Chack this morning consumed some poisonous substance at her home following which she was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu by the family members.
However, the doctors pronounced her brought dead. Her body was handed over to the family members for last rites after conducting postmortem.
After cremation of her body, the relatives of Pooja Sharma, who were angry over the sudden death of Pooja attacked her in-laws house alleging that they compelled her to suicide.
However, a team of police headed SDPO Sanjay Parihar and SP ML Kaith reached the spot and averted the attack. They pacified the angry relatives of the deceased lady on the assurance that strict action would be taken against the accused.
Meanwhile, Kanachak Police Station has registered a case of abetment of suicide against the husband of Pooja, Santosh Kumar and mother in law, Darshna Devi and later arrested them.
