SRINAGAR/JAMMU, Mar 13: A woman from Ganderbal today died at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) due to swine flu taking the death toll due to H1N1 influenza to 12.
An official of the SKIMS said that 42-year-old woman died at SK-Institute of Medical Science in Soura this morning.
The officials said three more tested positive for the H1N1, taking the number of H1N1 positive cases to 377.
“54 patients were seen at special OPD and 13 samples were taken which includes 5 samples received from Army Hospital. Patients are admitted in isolation ward and 2 patients have been discharged,” the official said.
Meanwhile, 10 more people were today tested positive for swine flu in Jammu, taking the total number of affected patients with the dreaded disease to 74.
According to Director Health Jammu, BS Pathania, out of the 46 reports received today by the department from Delhi, 10 were found to be positive for H1N1 virus.
With these 10 fresh cases of swine flu, he said a total of 74 patients have so far tested positive for the disease in Jammu region. He said so far swine flu has claimed three lives in the region.
“Till date till the department has sent 339 swab samples (including 14 sent today) to New Delhi for testing out of which it so far received reports of 287 while 52 are still awaited”, Dr Pathania said, adding out of these 287 reports, 74 were positive for H1N1 and 213 were negative.
Meanwhile, Medical Superintendent, Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, Dr Ravinder Ratan Pal informed that a total of 47 patients were screened today in Flu OPD of the hospital and samples of 10 of them were taken for testing.
“As of now, 10 patients (including affected and suspected) are admitted in Isolation Ward of the hospital”, he added.
