Woman dies, 70 test +ve in Jammu; 30 in Kashmir

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Feb 23: A woman died of COVID-19 and 70 others tested positive in Jammu division today while 30 cases were reported in Kashmir valley and 35 in the Union Territory of Ladakh, all in Leh district.
A 33-year-old co-morbid but fully vaccinated woman succumbed to ailments and virus in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu today. She was a resident of village Salyote in Kalakote tehsil of Rajouri district.
The latest casualty has taken Corona toll in Jammu region to 2325 and Rajouri district to 249.
Among 70 cases in Jammu division, 29 were registered in Jammu district, 25 in Doda, six Kathua, four Ramban, three Udhampur and one each in Rajouri, Samba and Poonch districts.
No new cases were recorded in Reasi and Kishtwar districts.
Ninety persons recovered from the virus leaving number of active positive cases to 764.
The Union Territory of Ladakh today reported 35 new COVID positive cases, all of which came from Leh district as Kargil didn’t report any cases.
Ladakh now has 305 active positive cases including 268 in Leh and 37 in Kargil.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 30 fresh cases of COVID-19.
Those who tested positive include 12 from Srinagar, 5 from Baramulla, 6 from Budgam, 2 from Kupwara, 3 from Anantnag and 2 from Bandipora.
With the fresh cases, the number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 286,941 including 283,917 recoveries and 2,423 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,365 including 601 from Kashmir division.
With 182 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 446,534 which is 98.65 percent of the total cases.
