JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, July 17: A woman died of COVID-19 in Jammu region and 62 persons tested positive. In Kashmir, 117 fresh infections were detected while the number was six in Ladakh.
A 43-year-old woman hailing from village Gangatha in Ghat area of Doda, who was co-morbid and positive for the virus died in the Government Medical College (GMC) Doda today.
With lone casualty, Corona toll in Jammu region has gone up to 2132 and in Doda to 123.
Among 62 COVID positive cases in Jammu region, 15 were reported from Doda, 13 Jammu, 10 Rajouri, nine Kishtwar, six each in Poonch and Ramban and one each in Reasi, Kathua and Udhampur districts. Samba didn’t report any fresh cases.
As many as 113 persons recovered from the virus today leaving active positive cases to 830.
Among six new COVID positive cases in Ladakh, four were reported in Kargil and two in Leh.
Meanwhile, Government today decided that there will be no large Eid congregational prayers in Kashmir in the wake of prediction for the third wave of COVID-19.
An official said that in view of the prediction of the third wave of COVID-19, there will be no large Eid Congregational prayers and people are requested to avoid large gatherings.
“Taking into account the real danger of the third wave, the administration has decided that no large Eid Congregational prayers will be allowed”, he said.
“We need to be very cautious in our all daily activities, that not only includes congregational prayers but also use of masks, avoiding crowded market places etc”, he said.
“Apart from vaccination, it is Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) which will save us from colossal damage”, he added.
Kashmir today reported 117 fresh cases of COVID-19 taking the overall tally of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 319755.
Srinagar reported 59 cases, Baramulla 6, Budgam 12, Pulwama 13, Kupwara 8, Anantnag 2, Bandipora 5, Ganderbal 5 and Kulgam 7.
As per officials figures, 70,917 positive cases including 832 deaths and 69,646 recoveries are from Srinagar, 23,484 including 280 deaths and 23,032 recoveries are from Baramulla, 22,799 including 22,499 recoveries and 204 deaths are from Budgam, 15,095 including 14,814 recoveries and 193 deaths are from Pulwama, 13,994 including 165 deaths and 13,758 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,277 including 15,971 recoveries and 205 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,430 cases including 9,258 and 100 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,802 including 9,637 recoveries and 77 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,209 including 11,041 recoveries and 117 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,572 including 5,505 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.
The number of positive cases in Kashmir division has reached 198,579 including 195,161 recoveries and 2,231 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 2,017 including 1,187 from Kashmir division.
With 277 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 313,375 which is 98.004 percent of the total cases.
