SRINAGAR, June 3: Police today detained a woman under Public Safety Act (PSA) in Baramulla district, as part of efforts to maintain public order and security in the district.
A spokesperson identified the detenue as Haseena Begum, wife of Mohammad Yousuf Bhat and a resident of Sheeri in Narvaw tehsil of Baramulla district.

“The detention order was issued by the District Magistrate, Baramulla, vide Order No. 07/DMB/PSA/2026 dated May 30, 2026, following a detailed assessment of her involvement in activities considered prejudicial to the security,” he said.
The spokesperson stated that the detenue was involved in multiple criminal cases registered under various legal provisions, including offences related to unlawful and anti-national activities.
“These cases include FIR No. 281/2019 under Sections 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 153-A and 506 RPC registered at Police Station Handwara; FIR No. 58/2021 under Section 426 IPC, Section 4 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDPP) Act and Section 3 of the Sabotage Act at Police Station Handwara; FIR No. 151/2021 under Sections 13, 23 and 39 of the UAPA and Section 506 IPC at Police Station Bandipora; and FIR No. 58/2022 under Sections 436 and 307 IPC at Police Station Sopore,” he said.
Investigations in these cases, the spokesperson said, revealed her association with anti-national elements and involvement in activities aimed at disturbing public order and security.
“Following the execution of the PSA warrant, the woman was taken into preventive custody and lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah under adequate security arrangements,” the spokesperson added.
