JAMMU, Aug 27: A woman allegedly crossed over to Pakistan occupied Kashmir after quarrel with her in-laws in Poonch district.
“A woman namely Shameema Akhter, 23, resident of village Noorkote, Degwar Mardiyala along the Line of Control in Poonch on the intervening night of August 24 and 25 reportedly ‘crossed over’ to PoK following a domestic dispute,’’ sources here today said.
She had a scuffle with her in-laws and in a fit of anger, the woman crossed over to other side of the border, sources said, adding, “the matter of crossing over to PoK reportedly by a woman amid tight surveillance and security on the border is being ascertained.’’
They said the matter has been brought to the notice of the police by the family members following which a case under Section 2/3 Egress and Internal Movement Control Ordinance has been registered and investigations has been started. SSP Poonch J S Johar said the matter is being verified.
