JAMMU, June 11: A woman burglar was among three arrested and stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 4 lakh were recovered from their possession.
Police spokesman said that, Swarna Kumari, wife of Ashok Kumar, resident of Qasim Nagar lodged a written report with police Station Bagh-e-Bahu alleging that during the intervening night of June 4 and 5 some unknown thieves barged into her house and decamped with gold ornaments weighing about 12 tolas worth Rs 4 lakh.
After registering a case under FIR number 56/13 under Sections 457, 380/RPC police started investigation and during the course of investigation rounded up many suspects including a woman, who had been living in the house of complainant as a tenant, he added.
During questioning, the woman hailing from Punjab and putting up at rented accommodation at Qasim Nagar broke down, confessed the crime and also disclosed that names of her two associates, who have been identified as Vikram Singh, son of Sanjeet Singh and Tinku Choudhary, son of Kirpal Choudhary, both residents of tehsil Sujanpur, Pathankote, presently living at Qasim Nagar, he said.
All the accused were arrested and on their disclosure police recovered the stolen gold ornaments including two gold chain, two necklaces, two bangles, two naths, one tikka, three rings, four pairs of tops, one pair ear rings and two number nose pins valuing around Rs 4 lakh, spokesman informed.
Police party led by SHO Noor Ahmed made the arrest under the direct supervision of SDPO East SS Sambyal, SP South Rajeshwar Singh and SSP Jammu Atul Kumar Goel.
