JAMMU, June 11: Two Jammu University scholars among three hostel boarders were brutally assaulted with sharp edged weapons by some unidentified criminals near B C Road late last night when the trio was on way to the campus.
The incident took place around 11.45 pm when the scholars were returning from GMC Hospital where they had gone for medical examination of one of them.
Near B C Road, the trio was attacked by some unidentified criminals who came out of a without registration number plate vehicle and started stabbing their victims. Before the police reached the spot, the assailants fled the scene.
Though Police have registered a case in this connection, no arrest was made as the victim could not identify the assailants.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Jammu University Research Scholar Executive Association (JURSEA), led by its president Rakesh Chib, called on the Vice-Chancellor and discussed the issues concerning security of the JU hostel boarders and general students of the University with him.
Chib urged VC to discuss the matter with the SSP Jammu for immediate arrest of the criminals involved in this attack and ensure safe movement of the students.
Among those who were part of delegation included, Akshey Sharma, Varinder Singh Varis, Somraj, Kamaldeep Singh, Manu Sharma, Deepak Sharma and others.
