Woman among two held with illicit liquor

JAMMU, Aug 17: Keeping a tight vigil over sale of illicit liquor on the auspicious occasion of Janamashtmi, Narwal police arrested two persons including a woman along with large quantity of illicit liquor from Rajiv Nagar.
As per police sources, on specific inputs about sale of illicit liquor on the auspicious occasion of Janamashtmi in Rajiv Nagar area, a police team from Narwal Police Post conducted a raid and recovered 310 pouches and 30 bottles of illicit liquor from two persons including a woman.
The accused have been identified as Vinod, son of Balli Ram of Bagh-e-Bahu and Sunita Devi, wife of Pritam, a resident of Rajiv Nagar.
The bootleggers were selling the illicit liquor among common people on the occasion of Janamasthmi on exorbitant rates for illegitimate gain.
A case under FIR number 155/14 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered against the accused at Police Station Trikuta Nagar and investigation started.
Police team headed by Incharge Police Post Narwal SI Nayat Ali and SHO Trikuta Nagar Police Station Chanchal Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO East Mohammad Rafiq, SP South Rahul Malik and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
