JAMMU, Dec 24: A socio political activist, Tarun Uppal expressed anguish over the ongoing protests in different parts of the country over the issue Citizen Amendment Act (CAA).
In a statement issued here on today, Uppal strongly condemned the violence and damaging the Government as well as private properties which he termed shameful on the part of protestors. He asserted that few political parties want to communalize the issue and are supporting the agitators by one or the other way to achieve petty political gains.
He said with implementation of CAA &K will also get relief in terms of getting rid of illegal foreign immigrants especially Rohingyas.
“J&K has a rich culture of people having different faith and ethnicities living together in harmony but some political parties just for its electoral gains are trying to destabilise the peace in the region under the garb of protests and demonstrations,” he said.
“Contrary to what is being projected, the Citizenship Amendment Act will rather go a long way in giving more opportunities to people and ensure development in more progressive manner. It surely will strengthen the country by fortifying set-up properly against anti-nationals,” he said.
“CAA is mandatory for our country because there are lot of such illegal migrants who are continuously posing a serious threat to our security and safety. In Jammu region, there are lot of illegal foreign nationals in general and Rohingyas in particular are living in different places. Moreover they are illegally exploiting the resources of our country which is meant for our own tax-paying public and citizens,” Uppal said.
“In the long run such historic steps will be very beneficial for our country. For maintaining the sovereignty and security of this nation such steps will be helpful in coming future,” he said.
