Winter School Training in Geospatial Technologies starts at JU

JAMMU, Nov 19: Three week Advanced Winter School training in Geospatial Technologies and Water Resources commenced at Department of Remote Sensing and GIS, University of Jammu (JU).
Prof. Manoj Dhar, JU Vice Chancellor, chief guest on the occasion said, in the present day teaching and learning, technology is playing a vital role and it is essential that all the young faculty, scholars and students must be equipped and well versed with the latest trends in technology of international standards to augment academics and research in the University.
Dr. S.K Srivastav, Scientist/Engineer-G, Dean Academics, Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, IIRS, ISRO in his plenary lecture outlined about the role of remote sensing for the study of natural resources management particularly about the ground water, surface water, climate change and glacier monitoring.
Prof. Naresh Padha, Dean Faculty of Sciences, University of Jammu stressed for the use of new technology for exploring the new endeavours in the field of research in sciences.
Earlier, Prof. Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Head Department of Remote Sensing and GIS JU and Coordinator, Advanced Winter Schools in Geospatial Technologies in his welcome address said, objective of this programme is to generate the capacity building in geospatial technology which will enable the young researchers and faculty members to get the opportunity to learn the   contents given in the training programme in geospatial technologies effectively.
