JAMMU : In the backdrop of the recent attack on Pathankot based air base of Air Force, Indian Army today said they are on alert while the winter mechanism is in place to counter any nefarious design by the anti-national elements along the border.
“Fog and weather are annual features but the Army is well equipped and well trained to deal with any kind of situation,” Major General Sanjeev Narain, GoC Tiger Division told reporters after laying wreath at the ‘Balidan Stambh’ on Army Day here this morning.
The officer asserted that Army troops are always on alert and will continue maintaining vigil along the borders. On threat perception from across the border, the General said, “threats are there as they always have been, but we are alert.”
“As usual we are keeping tight vigil and maintain it as being done always,” said the GOC. He however, said that Army Day is observed every year on January 15 to pay tributes and remember the sacrifices of the soldiers for the nation.
