I will strive for development of Bishnah segment: Charak

JAMMU, Dec 12: Former Minister for Higher Education and Congress candidate from Bishnah constituency, Gulchain Singh Charak has said that development of Bishnah area has always remained his priority and he would continue his work with missionary zeal and dedication.
Addressing public meeting at Bhatyari in Bishnah after opening election office, Mr Charak expressed his deep concern and anguish over the alleged fraud in preparation of BPL category, old age and widow pension lists. He said that he was shocked to know that deserving people, who have been ignored while preparing the lists of BPL category and old age/widow pension beneficiaries, are living in a miserable condition whereas those who are rich and well off have been enjoying these benefits. The lists have been manipulated to benefit certain sections of people, he alleged.
Mr Charak welcomed all the Congress workers as well as local people and hoped that this office will serve  as a bridge between the Congress workers and the local people in building up confidence. He said that the office will continue functioning even after the elections are over. He added that he is aware of all the problems experienced by the people in Bishnah constituency and promised that he will make sincere efforts to prepare lists of deserving people under BPL category afresh so that no deserving person is left out for benefits similarly, payment of old age and widow pension shall be streamlined so that no deserving beneficiary is deprived.
Congress leader said that from BPL and old age/widow pension, there are certain more alarming issues like better irrigation facilities, public transport system on link roads, safe drinking water, regular and uninterrupted power supply, better medical, education and sports facilities, employment opportunities etc. He reiterated his commitment to address these problems once he is elected as the people’s representative of the Bishnah constituency.
A large number of local villagers, prominent persons, leaders of the Congress party participated in the public meeting. People expressed their solidarity with the party by waving Congress flags and chanting pro- Charak and pro Congress slogans during the entire meeting and re-assured Charak for their whole hearted support and expressed confidence in his leadership.
Prominent among the leaders who were present and spoke on the occasion were, Capt Harshvardhan Sharma, Madan Lal Bhagat, Shamsher Singh, S Mehar Singh & others.
