JAMMU : ‘First-Fire’ will not be initiated from Indian side, said Jammu Frontier, Inspector General Border Security Force, Rakesh Kumar Sharma.
The statement came in the backdrop of heavy firing from across the border in which a BSF jawan was killed and another injured in the past three days in Samba Sector. “I assure that we will not initiate the ‘first-fire’ but if the fire comes from across the international border, there will be no compromise and befitting reply will be given,” Mr Sharma told here today.
He said that neither any invitation for flag-meet has been extended to the counterparts nor they (BSF) received any, adding, “The neighbouring country should be ready to suffer collateral damages if the Indian side retaliates”. He further said the BSF will lodge a strong protest with Pakistan over the ceasefire violations along IB in Samba sector. “India will launch a strong protest with Pakistan over fresh ceasefire violations at the International Border here that has left a BSF jawan dead and another injured,” he said. “They (Pakistan) have violated the norms on International Border. We are going to lodge strong protest to them (over ceasefire violation),” Mr Sharma said. The IG also said about 50-60 militants are waiting at the launching pad to sneak into the Indian side in Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan.
