Will fight for Anganwadi workers, ReT teachers: Mankotia

JAMMU, June 8: After breaking 24 hour fast, former MLA and NPP State president, Balwant Singh Mankotia reiterated that party will fight for Angangwadi workers/helpers and ReT teachers up to the logical conclusion of their long pending issues.
NPP Convener, Prof Bhim Singh offered juice to his party leaders to end their 24 hour fast organized in favour of Anganwadi workers/helpers and ReT teachers at Tawi bridge, here.
While addressing the party workers, NPP Convener recalled that he left Congress party in 1982 for the cause of Dogra’s and launched Panthers Party to end atrocities faced by youth and women of Jammu region, adding that since then, the Party is agitating for right and justice for youth and women from roads to courts.
Mankotia took the coalition Govt to task for turning a deaf ear to their shrill cries for justice.
“The responsibilities of Anganwadi workers and helpers are extremely significant as they ensure proper care for pregnant women, new born children and nursing mothers. The women and child development is under serious threat with Anganwadi workers and helpers protesting on the roads for their demands. The women employees are being maltreated in our State which has made a mockery of the Saffron slogan of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.” anguished Mank-otia said.
Mankotia reiterated that party will continue its struggle with protesting ReT teachers, Anga-nwadi workers/ helpers upto its logical conclusion.
Drawing the attention of the State dispensation towards the agony of teaching fraternity across the State, Mankotia divulged that the salaries of RETs engaged under SSA remain unpaid for months together and as a result, the education department was teetering on the brink.
He demanded that their salaries should be delinked from the Central funds and merged with the State budget so that they could live their life with dignity and honour.
Seeking early redressal of grievances of the said categories of employees, Mr Mankotia made a fervent appeal to the Chief Minister to address the issue on priority to bring ‘Achey Din’ for lakhs of family members who were dependent on such employees.
Those who were on fast included Shankar Singh Chib, Kewal Sharma, Pawan Singh, Satish Sharma, Adv Ch. Sohan Singh, Subhash Singh, Yashpal Sharma and Jagdish Chander.
