Central Govt committed to avenge citizens’ killing

JAMMU, Apr 23: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said today that the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is fully committed to avenge the killing of our citizens and ensure that such dastardly acts of terrorism don’t recur.

He is understood to have said this while chairing a high-level security review meeting in Srinagar this evening which was convened to implement directions given by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at yesterday’s high-level meeting, the sources said.
Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat and senior officers of civil and police administration attended the meeting, physically and virtually, they said.
“The Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains fully committed to avenge the killing of our citizens and to ensure that such dastardly acts of terrorism don’t recur,” Sinha was reported to have said at the security review meeting.
The meeting was aimed at ensuring that those responsible for Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 civilians including two foreigners were killed yesterday are brought to justice, the sources said.
“The Home Minister has directed that all might must be used for strongest possible action against perpetrators of Pahalgam terror attack and ecosystem of terrorism has to be completely dismantled,” the Lieutenant Governor reportedly said at the meeting.
Asserting that nothing can compensate for the innocent lives that have been lost in the most heinous terror attack, Sinha is learnt to have said that it is important to ensure that we avenge the killings of our citizens and completely destroy terror outfits besides those aiding and abetting terrorists-wherever they are.
He is understood to have directed the Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to take steps on ground to restore sense of security to the people and take care of their needs.
“I want to assure the nation that the scourge of terrorism will be fought with determination. All means and measures must be taken to avenge Pahalgam terror attack,” the Lieutenant Governor is learnt to have directed the DGP and senior police officials.
Sources said the directions passed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at high-level security review meeting in Srinagar will be implemented on the ground and search operations by the security forces are being intensified to eliminate terrorists and smash their ecosystem.
Thirty civilians, mostly tourists including two foreigners were killed in a terror attack near Pahalgam yesterday afternoon.
Sources added that multiple operations have been launched to track down the terrorists not only those involved in Pahalgam terror attack but also their associates and harbourers.
