Will ’84 riots victims get justice? Modi asks Cong

BATHINDA: Criticising Congress party over its leader Sam Pitroda’s remarks on ’84 riots, Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Monday questioned the long wait for the justice to the victims.

Addressing an election rally in support of SAD-BJP candidate and Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal here, the Prime Minister said Naamdar (Congress president Rahul Gandhi) should be ashamed of his political guru and Advisor’s (Sam Pitroda) statement–“hua to hua” on ’84 riots.

“Justice could not be given to the 1984 victims for 35 years”, Modi said adding “with the blessings of Parkash Singh Badal we have ensured death sentence to one accused and life imprisonment to others. Those remaining will also suffer the same fate”.

Mr Modi alleged that the Congress had not only protected the accused but even made one of them – Kamal Nath the party incharge for Punjab. The Prime Minister further alleged that when there was a hue and cry, Congress promoted Mr Nath and made him the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. (AGENCIES)
