At the start of the year it is a tradition for people to make a new year’s resolution for themselves,the resolutions usually consist of things such as “I would like to lose weight by the end of this year” or “I would like to be a better person” which both sound fairly easy but they are also very broad meaning there is no set goal for them. Other reasons people’s new year’s resolutions don’t work out are: they don’t have a plan for them,they don’t believe in themselves, they don’t enjoy the process, they don’t have a reason to do it.
While wanting to maintain or at least start your new year’s resolution you need to know how you are going to start it.If your goal is to lose ten pounds by the end of the year then you need to figure out how you will achieve this,you could try going to the gym, eating healthier, doing yoga,exercising you need to know which one it will be as well as when you will do this.For example if you are going to the gym, how many times a week will you go,will you go alone or with a partner,which exercises will you do and so on therefore if you are going to go on a diet you need to know how you are going to start it.
If you don’t believe in yourself and say that you cannot do your new year’s resolution then you are right you wont be able to do it but if you say you can you will be able to achieve your New Year’s resolution.
Why this will work is because if you wake in the morning and say that you won’t be able to achieve goal by saying things such as “I can’t do this anymore” or “I don’t want to do this anymore” that will give you less drive to do it but saying things like “I can do this” or
“I’m doing great” will make you feel like you want to keep going because progress is happening.
When you are not enjoying a TV show you will stop watching it,if your not liking what your eating you will stop eating it,that is the same concept of what will happen if you aren’t enjoying the process of your new year’s resolution you will quit it,but if try and do things that you like in order to meet your goals you are more likely to achieve them.
For example, if you want to lose weight and you know that running on a treadmill isn’t something you would enjoy.You could try doing something else such as doing dance routines in your home,or going swimming at your local community centre or going to the gym with a friend in order to have more fun!
While making your new year’s resolution find the reason you want to do this whether it be lose weight because you want to feel confident while wearing a bathing suit out in public,start being more talkative in order to meet new people or keep your room clean in order to have a clean living space by knowing why you want to do something you will mostlikley want to keep doing it because you know you will achieve something in the end.
In conclusion, if you want to keep your new year’s resolution all year long you will need to know where you’re starting from, how to begin and why you want to do it. Then you will be able to believe in yourself and enjoy what you are doing.
