SRINAGAR: A whooping 1.15 lakh pension cases, pertaining to different categories, including widows, destitute, old age and physically challenged persons, are pending for sanction in Kashmir valley.
Minister for Social Welfare, ARI & Trainings and Science & Technology Sajad Gani Lone in a written reply to a question raised by MLA Usman Abdul Majid in Legislative Assembly, said that there are 1,15,808 pension cases of widows, destitute, old age and physically challenged persons, pending in different government departments in Kashmir valley.
The reply stated among others 11,173 cases under various types of pension schemes are pending in north Kashmir district of Bandipora.
Giving breakup of the pending cases, he said 1250 cases of old age pension, 1390 cases of widows and 4503 cases pertaining to physically challenged persons under Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) are pending in Bandipora district.
Meanwhile, under National Social Assistance Programme, 2730 cases under Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme, (IGNOAPS), 650 cases each under Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) and Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension scheme (IGNDPS) are pending in Bandipora.
The reply said when additional funds are received, these cases will be cleared. (agencies)
