Where is my humanity?

Mehak Gupta Grover
Birth is given to everyone by Almighty;
Then why some are good, some are bad,
Some criticise on colour, some on gender,
And some kill one another.
Alas, things don’t change!
Does God teach all this?
There seems to be a conflict in human beings- whether they are doing the right thing or wrong thing. We are in a culture war. Battle lines are sometimes clear, sometimes blur. This is not a natural disaster like the Tsunami; it is a man-made disaster that deepens while the world watches.
Terrorism, discrimination, racism- they never leave us. Gunshots, bombs, fires- are we living in the depth of hell? Society is divided among different cultures, religions and beliefs. Is this the reason why this world is shattered? Then what about the reality of Unity in Diversity? Nothing is more disappointing than seeing our own kind, our own people kill innocent people. There are more deaths, agony, screams, poverty. When will the suffering end- when the world ends?
God has made human beings as the most intelligent and powerful species on this planet. But, sadly, what is this intelligence cooking up? Where is this power being used? Instead of helping the weaker ones, we are using our power to destroy them. Rather than creating harmony in the society, we are using our intelligence in making more dangerous atomic weapons. We are supposed to help each other for a better tomorrow, rather we are destroying this world which is our only home. We humans are monstrous. There is no harmony, no peace, no humanity and no life. The world is getting shattered with cruelness and evil.
I fail to understand, why do we need to fight in the name of religion, why is the notion becoming so strong that if a Muslim is walking on the road wearing his religious dress, he has to be a terrorist or an ISIS agent? We are not religious. We are humanist. Human beings are much more important than any dogma or traditions. Hindus pray in temples, Muslims in Mosques, Sikhs in Gurudwara and Christians pray in Churches. What is common- we all pray. We all pray to God. God has to be one but we humans have divided him as well. If we want wealth, we pray to Goddess Lakshmi. If we need knowledge, we pray to Goddess Saraswati. If we are starting something new, we pray to Lord Ganesha. Hindus alone worship 330 million Gods and Goddesses. God teaches us to live in peace and harmony. And we are fighting in the name of God. People have become educated but not human. So shameful! So Disgraceful!
In words of Albert Einstein, ‘ The world is not dangerous because of those who do harm but because of those who look at it without doing anything.’
Humanity is dying everyday. Society is slowly and slowly losing its humanity, the values that made people human. Is this all we Are?
Life is so important. We all do deserve a  beautiful life. Life is beautiful. And every culture, every country agrees. As Arabic language says- ‘ Alhayat Jamila’, in French- ‘ La Vie eat belle’, in Sanskrit- ‘Jeevanam Sundaramasti’.
We all want fight to end, this chaos to stop, and happiness to be all over . We have lost our humanity. We all need to work together to get it back. We all are responsible for the shape of our planet and the state of our world. To point fingers and blame others is to rid yourself of the responsibility. People believe that it is other people’s responsibility to prove them that humanity is good while never taking a look in the mirror to determine if they are being that proof to someone else today!
Change starts with us. It is not someone else’s responsibility to give us permission to be kind, compassionate, and loving person. Whether we believe it or not, we are a part of this whole system. To blame is to ultimately usurp our own power to make a change, to have an impact and to create even a small revolution. Faith in humanity should not be lost. Humanity is an ocean; if few drops of ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty. There is always hope for a better tomorrow! Who we are as human beings if we ignore the suffering of others?
