Where does God reside?

Swami Ram Swarup, Yogacharya
What a wonder that in the mind of a human-being, a desire originates. Then he naturally starts searching the matter, to fulfill his desire. After a great effort, when he obtains the desired matter, he experiences happiness and peace within him. For example- Human-being when came to know about gold, they immediately searched out the same and got pleasure. When they came to know about the clothes, silver, platinum, diamonds, sweets, iron, coal, gases and so many other matters then humans spent all their valuable time to search out the said matters and they acquired them and they tried to satisfy themselves.
In the present scenario, we see that people are after materialistic articles, money and other sources of satisfying themselves.
But we see that inspite of achieving all the matters, people still remain unhappy. Why? Because nowadays, everybody is enjoying from God made materialistic articles, as quoted above. People are enjoying the time of day and night, by working hard and taking sound sleep respectively, people are enjoying different types of vegetables, food etc. and people are enjoying every matter made by God. But in the absence of listening to the preach of Vedas, humans never try to search out the Creator of all the matters and UNIVERSE and He Who is even nursing the universe and Who infact is only the matter Who gives peace and long, ill free life to the people along with innumerable assets. Otherwise inspite of possessing materialistic articles people have gone far away from peace.
The four Vedas- The divine voice of God and based on Vedas, our ancient and present Rishi-Munis including personal experiences of human-beings have clearly taught us that in the absence of real worship of God, peace/salvation cannot be attained.
Therefore, like previous yugas, why don’t we the human-beings take interest to follow divine Vedas wherein the definition of God and process of His worship has clearly being explained by God Himself. Because the basic principles state that before a devotee starts worship, he must first know that Who is God and How His worship is performed.
Who is God
In Yajurved mantra 40/5, it is clearly preached,
“Tadan Tarasya Tadu Baayataha” i.e. the God resides within this world as well as within every soul.
The God while being omnipresent within every subtlest/minutest particle of universe and even outside also and thus knowing all souls and their pious as well as sinful deeds, He justifiably awards the result of those deeds, to be faced by souls.
We have to worship the said God.
Number of people ask as to where the God resides? In this connection, Rigved mantra 10/22/1 throws light that the God resides in the residence of learned of Vedas, Yogis, Rishi-Munis, God resides in their intellect also and the God is attracted to exist there by stuti (praise through ved mantras) to be realized. The God today also is realized like a friend by supreme and purest aspirants.
So, the way/method preached by God in Vedas to be away from problems, diseases, poverty etc. should be followed today also like the people who adopted the same in previous yugas especially in the beginning of the earth.
Rishi Yagyavalkya states in Shatpath Brahmin Granth about the residence of Almighty God, stating, “Yasya Atma Shareeram” i.e. that the soul is the residence of God. So, the aspirants who follows the Vedic path and worships accordingly, realise God within their souls and not outside and see that worship is also exercised in a way that our concentration enters within us and not outside.
In this connection, Yog Shastra sutra 1/2 educates us that “Yogaschittavritti nirodhaha” i.e., by doing hard practice of Ashtang Yog, an aspirant must control all the five vrittis and stop them from going outside. The effect of this eternal knowledge is being seen in the new Granth of the present respected saints.
For example- Respected Shri Guru Nank Dev Sahib throws light that- “Man mandar tan Bhesh Kalandar,
Ghat hee teerath nahaanva” i.e. Real temple is the mind of human-being where God resides and is manifested by tapasya.
In view of the above, though the God is omnipresent but He manifests in the heart of human-beings, who follow Vedic-path, perform daily agnihotra, name-jaap, seek shelter of learned Acharya of Vedas and Ashtang Yog philosophy. So, our eternal and ancient knowledge of Vedas and present knowledge of great saints says that God is within us. On the other hand, it is an open fact that people are doing the worship, searching God outside human-body. Then how can peace be maintained in the world.
Infact, when we enter the Vedic eternal knowledge, we find that in every ved, God has given preference that all human bodies must seek shelter of learned Acharya of Vedas and Ashtang Yog philosophy to gain knowledge, realize God and establish peace, like in previous yugas. But nowadays, everybody and the Government as well tries to maintain the books of Vedas, Shastras but is not trying to spread Vedic knowledge amongst people and hence problem.
